He was a rising screenwriter who had sold his first feature script at the time of his death in 1998, one of the busiest character actors in the business. He voiced Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz in “ The Simpsons,” as well as Bill McNeal in “ NewsRadio.” Other attractive offers soon began to flood in.
